Set up SmartPay terminals
SmartPay (Shift4 SmartConnect) lets you take in-person EFTPOS payments from Revively invoices. It is terminal only - not online checkout. Pair each physical reader once per location, then charge from the invoice screen like other terminal payments.
For Stripe Terminal instead, see Take in-person payments with Stripe Terminal.
Before you start
- A SmartPay / Shift4 EFTPOS terminal on your SmartPay merchant account.
- A complete business address for the site you are pairing:
- Main location - set under Settings → Identity.
- Other sites - save a full address under Settings → Locations.
Step 1 - Enable SmartPay in Revively
- Go to Settings → Methods.
- Open the SmartPay payment provider card.
- Enter POS business name (required). This name is sent to the terminal during pairing and every charge - use the name customers expect on receipts.
- Optionally set Estimated processing fee fields if you want Revively to estimate fees when the terminal poll does not return a fee amount.
- Click Save SmartPay.
- Turn Enabled on for SmartPay.
You must save settings before pairing. The Terminals section appears once SmartPay is configured and enabled.
Step 2 - Get an 8-digit pairing code on the terminal
The terminal shows a code when it is ready to pair. Codes are usually short-lived (often about 60 seconds), so have Revively open before you start.
If the terminal is not paired yet, it may show a prompt such as "Device not paired - pair it now?" Select Yes to display the 8-digit code.
If you do not see that prompt, use your device menu. Paths vary by model; common options include:
- Menu → Config → enter the config password → POS Integrations → Authorise POS
- Menu → Service Menu → enter the service password → POS Interface → Pair to POS
Menu passwords are set by your EFTPOS provider. Contact SmartPay / Shift4 support if you do not know them.
Step 3 - Pair the terminal in Revively
- Still under Settings → Methods → SmartPay, expand the location where this reader will be used.
- Enter the 8-digit pairing code from the terminal.
- Enter a Label (for example
Front deskorTreatment room 1). - Click Pair terminal.
When pairing succeeds, the reader appears under that location. Repeat for each terminal and site.
Unpair or re-pair
- In Revively, expand the location, open the paired terminal, and choose Unpair to remove it from your workspace.
- If the terminal still thinks it is paired to another POS, use Unpair POS (or equivalent) on the device before pairing again with a fresh code.
Take a payment
- Open an invoice and choose Save and Pay (or pay an existing balance).
- Select Terminal and the SmartPay reader for that location.
- Complete the card tap or insert on the EFTPOS device.
Payment status updates on the invoice when the transaction completes. Refunds for SmartPay charges are handled from the invoice where supported.
Tips
- Pair one reader per physical terminal. Each pair creates a unique register identity in Revively.
- Keep the POS business name stable after pairing. SmartConnect expects the same business name on pairing and on every transaction.
- SmartPay and Stripe Terminal can both be enabled. Set your default terminal provider under Settings → Methods if you use both.
