Discount codes and promotions

Promotions are the codes you hand out - a welcome offer, a winback for lapsed members, a partner rate. Each code has an offer, a list of what it applies to, and an optional start and end date.

Promotions are available on every plan.

Create a code

  1. Go to Catalogue and open the Promotions & Discounts tab.
  2. Choose New promotion…
  3. Enter a Name that tells your team what it is for. Customers only ever see the code.
  4. Enter a Code, or choose Generate to have Revively make one for you. Codes are uppercase and up to 32 characters.
  5. Set How it applies to Percent off or Fixed amount, then enter the Value.
  6. Choose what it Applies to.
  7. Open the Schedule accordion to set Starts on and Ends on if the offer is time-limited.
  8. Save.

The code cannot be changed once the promotion is created, because customers may already be holding it. Create a new promotion instead and archive the old one.

Scope the offer

Applies to decides what the discount can touch. Pick one or more of: all catalog types, services, classes, courses, items, packages, memberships, events, and gift cards.

Scoping matters more than it looks. A blanket "all catalog types" code will discount a gift card purchase, which usually is not what you intended - a customer can buy a $100 gift card for $80 and spend the full $100. Limit the code to what you actually want to promote.

Ticket and application fees are never discounted.

Where customers use the code

The Discount code field appears wherever a sale is taken:

  • Staff booking form and the new booking panel
  • Mobile booking flow
  • Customer portal checkout for packages, courses, and memberships
  • Assigning a membership from a staff screen

Enter the code and choose Apply. Revively shows Applied with the code, and Remove takes it back off.

How codes behave

  • One code per sale. Applying a second code replaces the first, so codes do not stack.
  • Not started yet? A promotion with a future Starts on date shows as Paused and will not apply.
  • Finished? Past its Ends on date it shows as Expired.
  • Redemptions are counted so you can see how well an offer landed from the Uses column.

There are no per-customer caps or maximum redemption limits, so treat a code as public once it is out. If you need to shut an offer down, set an Ends on date or archive the promotion.

Retire a code

Open the promotion and choose Archive. Archived codes stop working and drop out of the default list view, but past sales keep their discount history. The grid filters to Active by default - change the status filter to see paused, expired, and archived codes.

Promoting the code

Send codes to a segment with Revively Reach, or put them on your storefront and social posts. Tag the customers you sent it to so you can measure who came back - see Tags and categories.
